Bosses of the show are visiting the town to begin filming later this year.

This will not mark the first time Gloucestershire has featured on the popular programme.

Lady of the manor Vanessa Wegmann cooked up a treat when the show first came to Cheltenham in 2010.

Marc Harris, of Hayes Road, Pittville, invited the cameras and a group of strangers into his home in February 2011 – and walked off with the top prize. The web designer whipped up tapas and chocolate tequila brownies to earn top marks from his guests.

"I was quite quiet on the programme – everyone else had big personalities," said Marc.

"You saw only five per cent of the real me. It was a bit surreal."

Largely thanks to wise-cracking narrator Dave Lamb, the show has gathered a huge army of admirers, with many wanting to make it onto the show themselves.

Dave is famous for mocking the kitchen antics of contestants, and will cast his eye and wicked wit over the latest home cooks from Cheltenham following the filming in May.

The popularity of the show has spread far and wide, with Australia, America, New Zealand and Scandinavia all airing their own versions.

A host of celebrities have also taken part, helping raise thousands for charity.

Budding chefs wanting to take part must be free from May 6 to 10. To sign up, call 0871 244 4142 or email cdwm@itv.com.
