A BLAZE broke out in the lounge of a Cheltenham home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Firefighters from the town were called to Church Road in Leckhampton just after 2am.

The crew of 10 extinguished the fire, which was well alight on their arrival.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service watch commander, Russell Parker, said: "Due to the property having a smoke alarm the residents were able to make a swift and safe exit and alert the fire service."
