We've put together a list of 10 recommended restaurants in the town:
From fine dining to pub grub, continental cuisine to the best of British, Cheltenham’s thriving restaurant scene offers something to tickle everyone’s tastebuds.
Whether you are on a budget or looking to splash the cash for a big celebration there is something that fits the bill.
Sue Adie, the press and marketing officer for Visit Cheltenham said: “In terms of the size of town I don’t think I’ve ever come across so many places to eat and all of a very high standard.
“I think there is something for everyone and every taste.”
And with new restaurants such as Jamie’s Italian opening up in the last few months it seems that Cheltenham’s restaurant and cafe culture is set to continue going from strength to strength in spite of the recession.
Sue said: “There is a really extensive and eclectic mix of restaurants and I think they tend to do well because Cheltenham is such a great place to come to and has events all year round.
“It has everything from coffee shops, cafes and al fresco dining which Cheltenham lends itself well to, through to restaurants and bistros.”

“Would be good to see how you quantified this list, what was your measurement system. What places did not make the top ten? Or did you in fact only visit ten venues? Who knows the whole experiment is floored!
Also surprised that Jamie's where in the list, have also heard lots of bad reports!”

“Im amazed the Indian Voojan isnt featured given that it topped the poll of readers choices for curry and also won the award for best curry house in Cheltenham in the tiffin cup.
This is glos ran both of these stories in May and yet somehow it hasnt made the list!
Its all subjective, but when you run a list of the best restaurants you'd have thought you would include one you featured quite heavily earlier in the year!
I'd also add Number 7 to the list, had some superb meals in there.”

“I'm surprised Jamie's is in the list. I've only heard bad reports from there, including people waiting 90 minutes for their orders to arrive.”

“Curry Corner not in the Top Ten, unbelievable! Winner of the Taste of the West Gold Award in 2009!.Finalist in Gordon Ramsay's "The F Word" on Chanel 4 in the same year. Obviously Curry Corner does not need to pay for advertising as its reputation speaks for itself.”

“I think that the Daffodil is a delightful place to look at and somewhere certainly on the list of places to take friends who are visiting you in Cheltenham as they would be impressed. Unfortunately the only time I have eaten there, six of us chose our meal and, after what seemed like a lifetime, five meals turned up. When the person who served us put the five plates down, she smiled vacantly like someone off The Only Way is Essex and the fact that one of us was sitting with nothing in front of them did not even register. You don'r forgive that kind of thing readily and I haven't been back since.”
