Cheltenham's Ellenborough Park named UK's best luxury hotel
IT was good enough for the Hoff and now it's official – Ellenborough Park is the best luxury hotel in the country.
The plush retreat, in Southam Road, Cheltenham, picked up the top spot in travel website TripAdviser's 2013 Travellers' Choice Hotel Awards, voted for by customers.

And the hotel was listed highly in three other categories.
Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff gave it his seal of approval when he and girlfriend Hayley Roberts based themselves there for a three-day break in September.

John Hanna, general manager at Ellenborough Park, said he and his team were "honoured and thrilled".
He added: "The team deserves this award as each person is extremely skilled and committed in what they do to ensure the guest experience is delivered to a high standard.
"It is really something to achieve such prestigious awards and we will continue to do the great job we've been doing over the past two years."
The retreat got a ringing endorsement from guest Anne Dawson too.
She said: "Ellenborough Park is really outstanding and it comes as no surprise that it's won several awards.
"Everything, including the hotel's location, building, bedrooms, food, wine, The Spa and service is of an exceptionally high standard and it was an absolute pleasure to go and experience it."
As well as winning the top luxury UK hotel award, it was named third best of all hotels in the country, fifth best luxury hotel in Europe and 19th in the UK for service. It was ranked the 15th best hotel of all across Europe.
It wasn't Gloucestershire's only success in the awards. Byfield House, a bed and breakfast in Painswick, was sixth in the UK's Best B&Bs category, took ninth place in Europe and even made the world list, coming in 19th.
"Both the Byfield Hotel and Ellenborough Park should feel very proud in what has proved to be a very successful year for the Cotswolds.
"Winning such a spread of TripAdvisor Travellers Choice awards is a serious achievement," said TripAdvisor's Emma Shaw.
The top ten hotels in the UK, according to the awards, are: Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate; The Milestone Hotel, London; Ellenborough Park, Cheltenham; Casa Hotel, Chesterfield; Corinthia Hotel, London; Buckingham Gate, Taj Suites and Residences, London; Swinton Park, Masham; Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea; The Green Park Hotel, Pitlochry and Staybridge Suites, London.
