Children welcomed at small school

THE wide world of education has welcomed in youngsters from Redbrook Primary School.

Little ones from the village, bordering the River Wye, have been taking the first tentative steps into school life over the past few weeks.

Executive headteacher Mandy Lloyd, who is also in charge at St Briavels Primary, said the intake of just four children is settling in quickly.

"In the first month they have been getting very active and creative," said Mrs Lloyd.

"We have a new teaching assistant with them who started with us in September as well and she has been doing a lot of outdoor play, a lot of creative activities and phonics work."

The four are in a class with 11 year one pupils.

"They did not take long to settle in," said Mrs Lloyd.

"The class is quite small with 15 pupils in total."

Together, the two schools form the Wye Forest Federation.
