A FORMER clothes shop in Tredworth could be transformed into a takeaway.

A planning application has been made to fill a vacant unit in Ryecroft Street.

The shop, which has a flat above it, has been empty for the past seven years.

It is believed the unit will become a chip shop, subject to a successful application.

“If this is going to be the new site for the Abus fish and chip shop, what is wrong with the existing site?

Also, why does the applicant, "Mr. Patel", not have a first name? What is he trying to hide?”

“That corner and the road towards the High Street junction already have illegal parking virtually all of the time, night and day, with zero parking enforcement. If the takeaway gets the go-ahead, the road will be gridlocked.”

“Good news if that's the case, the shop on High Street is *just* too far to walk to at the moment. Wonder what will happen to the old shop..?

Not sure about this, though: 'The site is on an excellent bus route network'. Er, try 'The site is on NO bus route network, because Stagecoach won't run buses along High Street, because of all the motorists who park illegally right between the existing shop and this proposed shop'.

Not a problem, though, we gave up expecting enforcement of parking regs in this area a long time ago...”

“Ah, I see I had the wrong side of the junction (103 Ryecroft St has way too many doors). The notice did go up yesterday, so Dec 13th sounds about right.

One fly in the ointment is that this shop will be less than a hundred yards from a very popular existing chip shop, but it's for residents to decide if that's a problem for them...

“I think Tredworth has like 3 or 4 Chip Shops already, 3 of them are on the High Street and the last one is on Tredworth Road.”

“Good, we don't have nearly enough chip shops in Barton.

Actually, 105 Ryecroft St, comprised of 6 (or8?) flats, doesn't look like a promising prospect for a takeaway, right on the corner of Hopewell St. Even if it was, there is no notice displayed, so the 13th sounds right, *if* a notice is put up, like ,yesterday...
