Citizen editor: Home for veterans needs your help
THE Gloucestershire Home for Veterans is a project The Citizen believes to be a very worthwhile cause and one we are sure our readers will wish to support.
Unfortunately, more and more of our veterans find it very difficult to cope with life away from their disciplined days in the Forces.
Often these veterans fail to cope with drink or drug addictions and the resulting family break-ups can lead to mental illness.
The project plans to build a £200,000 home for these veterans in Gloucester, which will allow them to get back on their feet again and return to a normal life.

The Citizen hopes for instance, that the Royal British Legion in the county will be able to support the project and we welcome donations from companies and individuals.
We must not forget our former servicemen and women.
EVER wondered what John Travolta and Sophie Dahl have in common? Well, it is the James Hopkins Trust in Barnwood.
This amazing charity, which helps families across Gloucestershire, is trying to raise £500,000 to increase its overnight service.
This week they are holding an auction which includes a host of celebrity items.
Please go along or if you cannot make it, text a donation. Simply text JHTT01 and the amount to give to 70070.
'ONWARDS and upwards' – that is the message from one trader in Gloucester with the news of four more businesses for the city centre.
We would echo that and what is so great is that all of these firms bring something different to the table, helping to enhance the offerings for customers.

“I remember the time when the word veteran meant someone who had served a considerable amount of time in the services and had baan through trials and tribulations.
Now it applies to anyone who has wore a camo coat and extra thick socks.”
