Clampers still at Peel Centre
SHOPPERS are being warned not to park at the Peel Centre if they visit the new Designer Quays Outlet Centre tomorrow.
Contrary to earlier reports clampers from Premier Parking Services are still working in the car park.

Their policy is to fine anyone who parks and leaves the immediate shopping site.
The new shopping centre, which opens its doors for the first time tomorrow, has its own 1,500 space pay and display car park.

“I am taking my 2 children to the cinema today. I had planned to go to The Peel Centre to visit Hobbycraft and then Cineworld. I must admit I am put off going there because of the clampers, even though I have no plans to leave the site. What a shame as I am sure I am not the only one to be put off by them. Maybe Cheltenham is the safest option.”

“My elderly neighbour was clamped & had to pay an exorbitant fine. The signs were not apparent. I won't go there any more now. The shops have lost my trade. They should have 2hours free, then people would be able to go to other shops in Southgate Street and give them their custom too. We pensioners are not entitled to a disabled sticker, but cannot walk miles either. I will stick to the shops that are nearer to the bus stops in the centre of Gloucester, so I can use my free pass. These men have no feelings, apart from their own importance. A warning would have done for a 1st offence.”

“Since I think they are owned by the same people, perhaps it would be best to have a bit of joined-up thinking, and allow the two car parks to be treated as one big car park. This would be beneficial to people like me who don't like parking in multi-stories (I hate having to drive up all the narrow ramps).”

“This is disgraceful.
Why not make it a pay and display with a portion of the ticket to be handed in for shoppers to get their parking fee back from the shops. This works at the leisure centre.”
