Classic Robins: A look at some of the highest scoring matches in Cheltenham Town's history
CHELTENHAM Town's remarkable victory over Burton Albion was the club's first ever 6-5 victory in a competitive match since turning professional in 1932.
Club historian Paul Godfrey's records show the last 6-5 scoreline the club played in was a friendly against the Royal Signals in 1945.
"We may have seen a 6-5 during the amateur years, but I am still working on the records for that period." Godfrey said.
The Robins were involved in a 5-5 draw against Yeovil & Petters United in the Southern League in 1936 and there were 12 goals in one match when we lost 3-9 to Redditch United in 1932.
The biggest ever goals total in one match was 16 – a 13-3 win over Weston-super-Mare in the FA Cup in 1936, when Collett scored six, but the double hat-trick hero's first name remains a mystery.
Collett and George Tadman are the only players to score six in a match for Cheltenham.
The last time the Robins scored six goals before their Burton bonanza was at Kettering Town in an FA Cup first round tie in 2001.
Cheltenham fell behind at Rockingham Road, but Julian Alsop and Tony Naylor both scored twice along with Lee Howells and Martin Devaney strikes.
The Robins progressed to the fifth round that season, which remains a club best performance in the FA Cup.
Cheltenham thumped Ashford Town 6-0 during the 1996-97 campaign, which represents the last time they hit a team for six in a league fixture.
Jamie Victory and Howells both netted doubles, with Jimmy Smith and Martin Boyle also finding the net.
Jason Eaton's hat-trick and goals from Simon Cooper, Smith and Boyle sank Hastings Town 6-0 in October 1994.
Smith and Boyle both plundered hat-tricks the last time Cheltenham scored eight, which came against Corby Town at Whaddon Road in two months earlier. The other scorers that day were Eaton and Howells.
Cheltenham's best Football League win was a 5-0 success at Mansfield Town on the final day of the 2005-06 League Two season before the play-offs.
They also hit five against Plymouth Argyle in a 5-2 win in 2000.
Cheltenham have conceded six only once in a Football League game – at home to Peterborough United last season when the final score was 6-3.
Cheltenham's heaviest defeat since becoming a League club was 7-0 at Crystal Palace in the 2002-03 League Cup.
If anyone knows the first name of former Robins player Collett, who featured in 1936, please contact Godfrey on 01242 588118, or email paul.godfrey@ctfc.com.

That's rich coming from someone from Bristol, wasn't that many years ago that you had rioters and looters in your city centre totally destroying it.

“Robin how do you know anything about grimsby? Or were you one of the pathetic 84 fans you brought to blundell park and got chased out of your own end by just 4 of our boys?
Youre just a Small town, with a terrible ground, terrible team and pathetic support home and away. You have no History and have never been higher than div 1. Our setback is temporary, you will always be a very small fish in a big pond. We will soon rightfully regain our true position well above you lot of tin pot amateurs”

“All you codheads - better get an early night so you can be first up for your shift at the fish factory (that is the few of you that actually work you scummy inbred muppets). Your town is a disgrace-full of inbred filthy scum. Can't wait to goad you when you go down to the blue square where you belong! Have a nice evening.”

“Yeah but thing about route 1 (hoofball) Ed, is that it is much more effective when it's not expected, if you knock the ball about then drag the defence out and then hoof it over, it takes the defence by suprise, where as if you set out from the start alsop
upfront and hoof everything to him, defence expects it and sits back and soaks up the long balls!!
Noones saying we want arsenal football, we just want a sense of football!! Hoofball ain't worked this year with the exception of morecambe!”
