Classic car driver Steve Jewell dies in Snetterton crash
A CLASSIC car driver from Gloucestershire has died following a crash at Snetterton race course in Norwich.
Stephen Jewell, from Ripple, near Tewkesbury, died on Sunday after his 1924 Bugatti T35B hit crash barriers during a practice.
The 63-year-old was the chairman of Print by Design, based in Cheltenham.
He was also a founder member of the Fleet Cruising Club, a group of local people that manage, sail and race a large yacht.
He suffered serious injuries and was treated by the Norwich circuit’s medical teams and transferred to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
VSCC and Motorsport Vision, who manage Snetterton circuit, issued a statement today.
Mike Stripe, VSCC chief executive, said: “Stephen was an experienced competitor in many disciplines and well known within the motorsport community.
“The Club offers its sincere condolences to all of Stephen’s family”
