Classroom of the past
FAMILIES are being invited to take a step back in time when The King's School in Gloucester opens its doors to the oldest classroom in the world as part of the city's History Festival.
Tucked away next to Gloucester Cathedral, Little Cloister House, which dates back to the 13th Century, will play host to the heritage open days on Saturday September 8 and 9, giving the public an opportunity to discover the hidden gem.
A spokesman for the event said: "Originally built over a medieval undercroft, it is still used as classrooms by the school and with a small herb garden nestled against its walls, similar to those belonging to the monks who once lived there, a truly magical place will be on show.
"The Old Bishop's Palace, including the Bishops's Private Chapel and the Abbot's Dining Hall, will also be open giving the public a chance to learn about these spellbinding rooms."
