Club to open new pavilion
GOODRICH Cricket Club will mark its centenary this Sunday.
The current side will play a chairman's XI in a special match to mark the anniversary.
The Royston Young pavilion will also be officially opened.
Royston captained the first XI for eight seasons in the 1970s and was the leading batsman of the era.
He spent 10-years as club chairman and played a major role in helping the club buy its ground. Quite simply, he was Mr Goodrich Cricket Club.
On Sunday, the two teams will play for the Goodrich Cup, originally donated to the club in 1909 by president of the day, Mrs Moffatt.
During the tea interval, signed England and Worcestershire cricket bats will be auctioned.
Former Manchester United and England footballer Harold Halse is probably Goodrich's best known player, having played for them in the early days.
