The Coca Cola team were on hand to give out free cans of the drink as the familiar "Holidays Are Coming" television advert theme tune blasted out across the Gloucester supermarket carpark.

The truck's visit to Gloucestershire has split opinion in the county.

When it rolled into The Brewery in Cheltenham on Sunday some people welcomed it as a fun way to herald the start of the festive season while others condemned it as a marketing ploy to encourage people to drink Coca Cola.

“@gloscityguy: "Repeated coverage of this makes you wonder if CocaCola gave a little Christmas donation to the DailyMail owned website which is TIG"
    Indeed.

When I saw "Coca Cola Christmas truck rolls into Asda", I thought this might be news.
However, both truck (lorry) and supermarket appear to have emerged unscathed from the incident. Ah well.”

“Astute assessment, TheMoanerLisa. The queue for the ladies' loo was quite something too, after the long wait for a cold drink.

But be fair, gloscityguy, TiG would practically have paid Coca Cola for any bit of copy which saved them having to find real news...”

“A rather poor effort really. Hundreds of overweight families in a chaotic queue for a tiny can of pop really did block the view of the attraction. If anything it was shoe horned into a grotty carpark with a scruffy backdrop with very little of the christmas cheer promised. Typically the only decent vantage point with a view was an upper level carpark which the public were prevented from using, albeit with a few upturned shopping trollies lazily placed over the entry point. only thing missing was a burger van and a small fairground ride - maybe thats next years treat”

“What a sad reflection on what the Christmas season has become. "The little ones faces light up" really ? Try turning the one eyed monster in the corner OFF and join the real world.”

    “Excellent!

Nothing says "Happy Christmas" quite like a multinational corporation soft drinks manufacturer's delivery truck handing out liquid sugar and additives a couple of hours before bedtime.

Coming next Easter: the Lilt Bus. With free knives for the under 8s.”

@thomas1996 - you are making yourself loo like a PRIX!”
