Coca-Cola truck to bring holiday season to Gloucester
FORGET jingle bells – it will be the jingle of Coca-Cola bottles that ushers Christmas into Gloucester.
The festive lorry from the brand's beloved adverts will be rolling into Asda in Bruton Way next month to tell shoppers: "Holidays Are Coming."
-

HOLIDAY SYMBOL: The Coca-Cola truck.
It will arrive at the store on December 5, decked out with fairy lights and yuletide cheer.
A snowy Christmas wonderland will be created with helpers handing out free bottles of fizz to help the holiday go off with a bang.

Tony Devonald, people manager at Asda in Gloucester, said: "For a lot of people, the sight of the Coca-Cola truck marks the start of Christmas.
"It's the first time it has come here so we're really pleased.
"It will mark the beginning of what is hopefully a prosperous Christmas for everyone.
"We are trying to cheer everyone up for the season and put a bit of sparkle into their Christmas so they can forget some of the doom and gloom we have had to put up with during the year."
The yuletide truck will be at the store from 1pm to 9pm serving chilled Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coke Zero.
Shoppers will also have the chance to be photographed with the famous vehicle.
The truck will also be visiting The Brewery in Cheltenham on December 2 from noon to 8pm.
The Coca-Cola Christmas trucks first appeared on screens in November 1995 and since then have been a regular feature on televisions throughout the festive season.

“The Gospel accounts indicate that Jesus was born before the winter season:
Luke 2:8 "Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night." {Sheep were never in the field by night in Palestine after the third week of October.}
What history tells us:
Despite the beliefs about Christ that the birth stories expressed, the church did not observe a festival for the celebration of the event until the 4th century. The date was chosen to counter the pagan festivities connected with the winter solstice yule tide; since 274, under the emperor Aurelian, Rome had celebrated the feast of the "Invincible Sun" [or Saturnalia] on December 25.
The idea of Father Christmas is loosely based on Saint Nicolas, he wore a green coat, gave away wooden toys he had the famous white hair and beard. Coke-a-Cola reinvented him in the now famous Red Coat so it can be argued that they did invent the commercial side of Christmas.
A Christmas Carol, when Scrouge says Bah Humbug the meaning of that is nonsense or something intended to deceive; a hoax or fraud, so in a way he is correct Christmas is a fraud.
Holidays are coming??? how long have we been in America? how long before colour become color, mayonnaise becomes just mayo. The season is CHRISTMAS!”

“Typical response from the grumpy ignorant residents of Gloucester - dont they take things seriously in any attempt to find something to winge and wine about. Perhaps these well travelled bumpkins could tell us what they do like instead of bleating about everything they dont..”

“Did everyone get out of bed the wrong side this morning?
Yes its commercialised. We all know coca-cola arent doing it for the good of mankind but some people enjoy seeing the coca-cola advert and if that makes them happy and if they want to take a trip to asda to see the lorry then just let them. You dont have to if you dont want to.
Stop being so bah humbug!”

“Lol,Geraint. Jemmy was a banker.
I love bankers but I couldn't stomach a whole one.

“'Thanks Coca-Cola for trying to bring a bit of Xmas fun' - are people so starved of imagination and wit that looking at a lorry with some flashing lights on is their idea of 'fun'...?”
