in the shop meowed.
They opened the black bag to find a cat inside a
carrier and a note from the puss pleading for a new home.
It read, "My
name is Coco. Please help find me a nice home. My owner is too ill to look after
me."
Workers at the Maple Court shop in Alloa were left stumped as to
why someone would donate a cat to the charity shop. They called out the Scottish
SPCA who took the feline into care.
Assistant manager Robertson Thomson
joked, "We have never had anything like that before - where would you put the
price ticket?"
The unusual donation was discovered at 10.30am last
Tuesday (11 September) after the front door of the shop had been wedged open for
customers to walk freely in and out.
Robertson said, "People were coming
in and out of the shop all the time. We have no idea who might have left it or
why someone would think they could donate a cat here. Most people know we don't
take live donations."
The puss was allowed to roam free around the back
of the store as they waited for the SSPCA officer to arrive and proved popular
with staff.
He went on, "The cat was in a lovely condition. It was
clearly used to being handled and was really friendly.
"The day before
someone came in to the shop and said they were looking for a cat as theirs had
died. Maybe the person overheard them.
