Coffee chain petition call
A STORM is brewing over a bid for another new coffee shop at Cirencester.
Chain Coffee #1 wants to open at the Old Post Office development in Castle Street.
But its bid to launch in the former Jack Russell menswear shop is a threat say many existing independent cafes. The town has coffee giants such as Starbucks and Costa Coffee. A petition objecting to any more chains has been launched by Jack's Coffee Shop owner Anne Rainy-Brown. "We're still in a recession and it's not fair such huge competition is being forced upon independent shops," she said. Chain Coffee #1 agents WYG Planning and Environment Ltd said the proposal was a "positive and beneficial addition to Cirencester town centre".

“Tim, yes a free Nando's chicken meal for one for just a couple of quid - rather than Nando's normal menu price of £8.95.”

“Tim,
I've now found a way of not paying for 'overpriced' coffee in town centres as I always comment on here. Now I search on ebay and buy completed free coffee voucher cards from the major chains for a fraction of what it costs to fill a card with between 6 to 10 stamps/stickers. You can easily buy un-used McDonalds stickers by the roll! I'm sure they are fraudulently obtained but they sell lots on ebay so I thought why not. It works out you can get 6 McDonalds coffee stickers for around 40p which will get you a free cappuccino at any McD's worth £1.79. Bargain!
You can buy completed cards for Caffe Nero, Costa, Nandos, M&S and many more.”

“NibNobs - you are correct, they can't refuse planning permission on the grounds that another local business will lose trade, the Coffee#1 in Gloucester is always busy and will have had an impact on Starbucks, Nero and Costa but did you see them kicking off about their opening?”
