Cold caller tries to sell fake Gloucestershire police sponsorship
A CROOKED cold caller tried to trick a businessman into buying advertising in a police related publication.
A local businessman was offered a chance to sponsor Gloucestershire police for a fee of £300 or £145, with the price including free advertising in an unspecified police brochure.
The businessman did not give any details or money to the caller.
Police do not sell advertising and officers are urging anyone who receives a similar cold call to simply hang up the phone.

A spokeswoman said: "We never sell advertising space in any publication or cold call people. Even if these products exist they are certainly nothing to do with the police."
Anyone who receives this type of call should call Trading Standards or Police on 101.

“I used to get these idiots calling me at least once a week. I ended up being VERY rude to them. Never had another call!”
