Coleford Women's Institute Raise £100 for Local Charity Lydney Dial-A-Ride!
The generous ladies of the Coleford Women's Institute have raised a fabulous £100 for local Charity Lydney Dial-A-Ride. Collecting donations throughout the year, the WI selected the recipient of their handy-work this year to be a local organisation which can vitally benefit from such kind donations, and this year decided that Lydney Dial-A-Ride was a worthy cause.
Throughout the year, members of the Coleford Women's Institute contribute whatever they can to a collection of donations. At the end of the year at their AGM, the recipient of these collected donations is invited to come along to be presented with a cheque, and explain a little more about their organisation and why the donation will make a real difference to their charity.
This year Lydney Dial-A-Ride manager, Louise Currie, gratefully accepted the donation on behalf of the Charity, and thanked all the generous women who have helped in raising the amazing amount. Speaking about the donation from the institute, Louise Currie explained,
"The ethos of the Women's Institute and Lydney Dial-A-Ride is very similar and both endeavour to help those in the local area to socialise and maintain links with their communities. Donations are vital in helping to keep our service running and so we are really thankful to the Women's Institute for their contribution!"

Operating a fleet of 14 wheelchair accessible minibuses, the charity enables those with no access to their own or public transport the ability to get to where they need to go. 17,318 trips have been made so far this year, taking people out and about to the shops, doctors and other social occasions. 3 charity shops in Lydney, Coleford and Cinderford help to support the service and fund the buses. Alongside this they also offer a volunteer car service. With a total of 36 volunteer drivers, the car service carried a total of 1513 passengers in the past year alone, illustrating just how vital the service is.
They exist to help members of the local community with no access to transport, the means to get out and about to where they need to go. Their aim is to provide a friendly transport service that not only encourages independence, but also offers a friendly social interaction for passengers on a regular basis. The generous donation will be used in helping towards improving and maintaining the service Dial-A-Ride provide.
