A HIGH Court case concerning common land in Tewkesbury will not begin until next year.

A town council meeting heard the case, affecting the Severn Ham, will start in early 2011.

It has been brought by ADM Milling, the owner of the disused Healing's Mill building, which lies on the edge of the Ham.

ADM wants to prove its site was wrongly included in the registration of the Ham as a common in 1965.

It wants to resolve the matter on a "non-contentious basis" at the High Court.

ADM has not made its intentions clear but it is thought it wants to repeal grazing rights on the part of the Ham occupied by the mill, to make it more attractive to potential buyers.

The council owns most of the Ham and is keen to make sure it is represented at the hearing.
