Conservative group leader to stand down
FRANCES Roden is to stand down as Conservative group leader on Stroud District Council.
The Painswick district councillor will continue to represent her ward but will officially resign from the party's top job next week.

She has led the group for three years and the council until May this year.

Stroud Conservatives will elect a new leader on Monday night. The candidates are deputy leader Coun Keith Pearson and former cabinet member for environment Coun Dorcas Binns.
The group lost control of Stroud District Council in May's election after 10 years in charge at Ebley Mill.
Coun Roden was first elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.
The solicitor and mum-of-two took over from Coun Chas Fellows as leader in November 2009.
Party members will vote for their new leader behind closed doors on Monday.
Despite her group having to make budget cuts, satisfaction with the council went up from 63% to 76% in 2011, according to a survey.
