Conservatives target top job
COTSWOLDS Conservatives will make a bid to take on the role of an elected Police and Crime Commissioner covering Gloucestershire Constabulary.
Backing the government's move to introduce the new post, Cotswolds MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown said the party would field its own candidate.
"We will be fighting the election on a countywide basis," he said. "A selection process is currently under way within the party and we expect to choose a candidate, who will command widespread respect from the electorate, in the near future."
The commissioner will set the budget and overall policing strategy.

And if a Conservative gets the job so much the better for the smooth implementation of the severe cuts to policing proposed by Cameron's excuse for a government.
So much for "WIDESPREAD respect"!”
