PLANS to remove an eyesore from Podsmead have taken a step forward.

Residents are rejoicing after developers announced the start of a consultation about 18 new homes to be built on the former Jet and Whittle pub.

Jennie Dallimore, city councillor for Podsmead, said: "It is fantastic news that work will soon be getting under way on the site.

"The derelict pub has been an eyesore for a number of years and this new development will not only enhance the look of the local area but provide the neighbourhood with much needed affordable housing."
