Cook has proved he has ingredients
I WAS pleased to see Rob Cook announced as the latest Gloucester player to sign a new contract last week.
The full-back continues the Kingsholm tradition of plucking gems from the lower leagues after his move from the Cornish Pirates a couple of years ago.
When he moved all the talk was of his excellent kicking statistics and slightly strange style, but he has turned out to be much more than that.
He makes clean line breaks almost every week and has been the solution to what had been a problem position for the Cherry and Whites because of the Olly Morgan injury, which eventually resulted in retirement.

Hopefully the momentum will now build in terms of Gloucester players putting pen to paper on new deals.
There are clearly some big names who are yet to decide their futures and a great deal of work to be done behind the scenes in terms of budget planning.
Realistically maybe one or two will leave, but the key is to strengthen the squad overall with the players brought in. That's easier said than done.
