'Cost of parking could hit profits'
PARKING charges could drive Christmas shoppers away from Cirencester.
A working group fears high prices will stop visitors over the festive period.
The Cirencester Parking Partnership, which consists of members from the town council and chamber of commerce as well as district and county council representatives, has met to discuss ways of improving parking facilities.
Marketing adviser Robin Thompson, speaking on behalf of traders, said: "If a young family comes into Cirencester to do some Christmas shopping and they feel the parking prices are too high, then they're going to leave the town and go to some other place where it's not so expensive."
