Cotswold businessman seeks to one-up schoolmate Richard Curtis in mountainous Red Nose Day event
A UNIQUE Red Nose Day fundraising event will take place in Kemble on Friday with the creation of a Mountain of Mats.
The Turtle Mat Company, based in Kemble Enterprise Park, will throw open the doors of its head office to invite visitors to help move a Turtle Mountain of Mats.
The idea is the brainchild of the company's managing director Mark Whitney and is a tongue in cheek attempt to get one up on ex-class mate and Red Nose Day founder Richard Curtis.
Mark explained: "I remember Richard was the envy of everyone at school as Head Boy, as well as being academically and athletically talented, he was sickeningly great at everything.

"But finally I'm able to do something that Richard probably hasn't, and perhaps wouldn't choose to, and that is create, demolish and then sell a mountain for Comic Relief - a mountain of mats!"
The Mountain will be created from end of line mats and all of them will be sold on the day for as little as £5 with all proceeds going to the good cause.
It is a cash only event and it will start at 10am, finishing at 3pm.
