Council workers getting on their bikes
COUNCIL workers are getting on their bikes and leaving their cars behind... at least for a week anyway.
Staff at Gloucestershire County Council are this week leaving their motors at home for Car Free Week in Gloucester.

The council's cycling club is leading the campaign to encourage more staff to make the switch.
Its founder David Grocott said: "I not only save money but I feel fitter and more alert at work."

Nick Wood, from the occupational health team, said: "It is good for the planet but it is also good for our wellbeing."
New cyclists are even offered a buddy to pair up with for help and advice about getting out on the road for the first time with their bike.
