A REPORT has concluded Stroud district councillor Penny Wride did not breach the members' code of conduct.

The Tory Vale ward councillor was investigated following a complaint from the parents of an 11-year-old boy she reported to police after it was alleged he was part of a group seen shooting at cows with a BB gun.

But the boy was innocent because his parents said he did not own a BB gun and had been in Bristol at the time of the incident.

They said the inquiry made it difficult for them where they lived, especially for their son, and they were now thinking of moving.

The council's investigating officer Sarah Farooqi looked into whether Coun Wride had "conducted herself in a manner which could reasonably be regarded as bringing the office or authority in disrepute".

She found no evidence of this and recommend to the council's Standards Committee that members agreed with her that Coun Wride had not breached the code of conduct.
