WARDEN Hill councillor Jo Teakle has resigned.

She stood down from her role on Cheltenham Borough Council with effect from yesterday.

The Liberal Democrat has left her post for health reasons. The borough council has confirmed her resignation and as such a notice of vacancy has now been published, asking for people to come forward to fill the space.

A by-election for the seat will be held on May 2, the same day as the elections for Gloucestershire County Council.

Conservative councillor Anne Regan also represents Warden Hill. She paid tribute to her cross-party colleague.

"I think that while we may have different political opinions, we worked very well together and she is an extremely nice lady," she said.

"In many respects I am sad to see her go."
