Couple buy house due to rising rent and desire to own a home
Moving home can be an easy process but it is important to view properties and to do so more than once, according to a first-time buyer.
Katherine Austin, who works as an appointments co-ordinator at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, has taken her first step onto the property ladder with husband Ben.
The excited couple have spent months working on their new three-bedroom home and are looking forward to enjoying the fruits of their labour.
Katherine, 25, said: "I always wanted to buy my own house, like my parents did. The location and price were reasons we went for this one and the fact we could see what we could do to it."

Katherine and Ben, 26, spent a month renting while setting to work on the £119,000 property. The work, which has so far cost around £6,000, included a new kitchen, carpets, garage conversion and decorating. #Now there is just the bathroom and garden to do and decorating to finish and Katherine is hopeful the work will soon be finished.
She said: "We've spent every evening and weekend on it. We knocked through the garage. Now there's just the bathroom left and the odd bit of decorating."
They also picked their new home, in Quedgeley, because it matched their budget and for its closeness to schools, stores and a library.
"It's just got everything there," Katherine said. Quedgeley prices are higher than other areas. Other houses were already finished and we picked ours so we could put our stamp on it."
Rising rent and an ambition to own their home were reasons Katherine and Ben moved out of their two-bedroom flat in Quedgeley and looked to buy.
The couple were paying £550 per month in rent between them.
The pair found the home for them just two streets away and were able to use family funds.
They had rented for two years and before that lived with parents.
Ben works as a team leader at county business Corinium Stoves.
Katherine's advice for others looking to buy for the first time are to save money, view properties more than once and not pay much attention to photos as a property can always look better when you view it.
