Couple 'drunk in charge of a child'
A Gloucestershire mother and father knocked back the drinks while their toddler wandered in and out of a pub unsupervised, a court heard.
They then all piled into a car and drove off – but the police were waiting for them.
-

Their drunken antics were captured on police CCTV and when the film was shown to city magistrates the mother of the 17-month-old girl burst into tears.
The mother and father, both from Coleford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a child under the age of seven.
The mother also admitted driving with excess alcohol.
Prosecuting solicitor Sharon Jomaa said: "The police DVD shows the couple drank outside the Red Lion public house in Newland Street, Coleford on May 24.
"Two young girls approached them with their young daughter in a pushchair.
"The child is left unattended on several occasions and is seen to walk in and out of the pub.
"They leave the pub area, with the father carrying the child, to go to a cashpoint.
"They appear to have an argument and the mother pushes the father.
"He is then seen to apparently urinate in a doorway while holding his daughter.
"They then get into a car in a car park and drive off.
"Seconds later the police, who had been watching them on CCTV, stop them."
They are both arrested and the mother is found to have 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Defending solicitor David Brown said: "The mother is absolutely devastated at what happened and the father is deeply remorseful.
"She is very upset that she has let herself and her daughter down.
"There was a music festival in the town on that day and they felt the child was safe because Coleford is a close-knit community and there were lots of people around.
"They had a few drinks and things went horribly wrong and the mum is disgusted with herself.
"Social services are monitoring the matter but have taken no further action and the mother does not have a drink problem.
"The father is a loving dad – he was trying to be a good dad on that day but he admits that he did leave the child unattended on occasions."
Magistrates adjourned the case until August 6 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
The couple were granted unconditional bail.
