PRIMARY school pupils have got on their bikes.

The Year 6 pupils, from Soudley Primary School, have been learning how to cycle safely.

The event was an annual training course for pupils designed to encourage road awareness.

Paula Pen, from the school, explained: "We aim to make the children road safe.

"They bring their bikes to school and we teach them how to be cycle aware and also how to take care of their bikes."

The children were taken on to a road and supervised as they built their confidence.

Ms Pen added: "It was a chance for them to gain confidence on the bike.

"Many of them hadn't been on them for some time."

At the end of the class the children were tested on the knowledge they gained and were asked to sit a test.
