Cyclist dies after being run over by truck in Montpellier Walk, Cheltenham

A CYCLIST has died after being hit by a truck in Cheltenham town centre on Friday afternoon.

The cyclist, a 56-year-old man from Cheltenham, was run over by the tipper truck at the roundabout junction of Lansdown Road and Montpellier Walk at around 4pm.

He died at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol yesterday afternoon.

He was said to have suffered leg, hip and pelvic injuries in the collision.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Police closed the road until 7.20pm on Friday while officers worked at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn't yet spoken to police is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 263 of November 1.
