A DJ from the Forest of Dean could see his latest homegrown tune reach the UK top 40 this weekend.

Westbury-on-Severn might not appear to be a hotbed of dance music but 25-year-old Aaron Tuckwell has created his own label, Fidget Factory Records, there.

Since starting it last year, Aaron, who performs under the stage name Ted O’Shay, has seen his tunes played on the decks by the likes of DJ Annie Mac,

Now, after his latest release Dirty Faces and Grazed Knees has been climbing dance charts steadily, it is now expected to gain a place in the national top 40.

“The release will also qualify for the Official UK Top 40 and if we sell enough between yesterday and Saturday, we will see Ted O’Shay and Fidget Factory Records in the UK Top 40 for the first time ever,” he said.

Aaron, who grew up in Cinderford, went to Steam Mills Primary School and Heywood Secondary School before getting a degree in Music Technology at Gloscat, now Gloucestershire College.

He now works for Swinton Insurance in Gloucester, and lives with parents Dawn and Les in Westbury.

Aaron’s day job may be insurance, but his passion is music and he is set up to play at several big-name festivals.

“I also have a few big DJ gigs lined up for 2010, including a few festivals, but I won’t stop until I’ve played Creamfields, Global Gathering and Ibiza all in the same year,” he said.

And he is already setting his sights on events management in the county.

He said: “I have been looking to establish a new trance and electro night in Gloucestershire carrying the Fidget Factory branding and logo, where I can host the county’s best DJs and dance music talent and I’m in talks with a few companies about potentially putting on Gloucestershire’s best dance music festival.”

His single was released exclusively to Trackitdown.net on January 20 and has since then been in their top 100 tech-trance sales charts for the entire month.

It peaked at number 28, having out-charted releases by well-known DJs.

“Dirty Faces and Grazed Knees has also had some major support from the dance world with Radio One’s Annie Mac playing the track at her gigs, reports of Judge Jules even having it in his record box and e-mails from clubbers across the world reporting that major dance-floors worldwide have gone crazy when the track is played,” he said.

The track was released across major UK sites and by dance music retailers.

“Granted, dance music is not for every-one, but I¿d love to know what you¿ve been doing to hear what sheep being pestered sounds like¿.

Don¿t you think it¿s enough that some-one with a passion for something that requires a little bit of effort and talent to do is following it through, rather than just giving up. I say fair play to the lad.

I¿d pay good money to hear some of the material that these people who think they can do better would come up with¿ I bet it doesn't chart!”

“I used to work with Aaron at a restaurant in Gloucester and remember him playing some of his stuff on his mobile after work. Was just really chuffed to read this - good luck Aaron.”

“Oh come now, it is not that hard to get a tune in the charts.

I could pretty much fart into a paper bag and make the top 40.”
