He was cautioned for his celebration,, but Cheltenham deserved their lead.
Boss Mark Yates made three changes to the team beaten 2-0 at Scunthorpe United a week earlier.
With James Wilson away on international duty with Wales, Keith Lowe moved to centre-back, with Sido Jombati returning to the team at right-back.
Craig Braham-Barrett made his comeback from an ankle ligament injury at left-back, with Matt Richards pushed into midfield and David Noble dropped to the bench.
Up front, Cureton replaced Terry Gornell alongside leading scorer Byron Harrison.
Jermaine McGlashan played in the hole behind the front two and the new-look shape worked well.
But another avoidable goal saw Dagenham level five minutes before half-time.
Keith Lowe's clearance hit McGlashan and Dagenham made Cheltenham pay.
Rhys Murphy's header was parried by Scott Brown, but Abu Ogogo followed up to make it 1-1.
Lowe won it for Cheltenham in the 59th minute, nodding in from close range after Troy Brown's pull-back following a save from Seabright to keep out Cureton's header.
Cheltenham had to withstand some late pressure, with Scott Brown making several smart stops, but they held firm to climb to 17th in the table ahead of back-to-back home matches against Rochdale and Morecambe.
