Dancing lion ushering in snake's year
SPECTATORS were engrossed by the slick moves of a dancing lion when the Chinese New Year was marked in Cheltenham at the weekend.
It is now the Year of the Snake and to mark the start of the new year, which began on February 10, crowds were treated to the spectacle of traditional lion dancing.
The art is 1,500 years old and sees two people don the costume for the celebratory dance, an integral part of the Chinese New Year festivities.
Whole families stopped to watch the white lion dancing when it made an appearance at The Brewery.
