ILLUSIONIST David Blaine has proved he's absolute magic – by

making a disabled schoolboy's dream come true.

The enigmatic showman, who's famous for standing in a block

of ice for three days, has delighted 12-year-old Timothy

Bingham by promising to visit him next time he's in

Britain.

Timothy, who suffers from a rare illness that has left him

unable to move his limbs, asked the Make a Wish Foundation if

he could meet the star as one of four possible wishes it could

choose to grant him.

Former magician Claire Collins read the story on

thisisgloucestershire.co.uk, and contacted David to tell him

about Timothy's wish.

Within hours, the magician emailed the Echo to say he wanted

to see the youngster, from Hester's Way Lane, Cheltenham.

He said: “Please send me an email, I just found out about

this and would love to meet with him.”

Timothy was undergoing a five-hour operation to straighten

his spine at Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London, when the

message from the star magician came through.

His mum, Kate Bingham, gave the youngster the good news when

he came around from the anaesthetic on Thursday afternoon.

She said: “It's fantastic news. He has just come out of

intensive care and round from the anaesthetic.

“When I told him, his first words were: 'Am I going to meet

him now?' He is really excited.”

The Arthur Dye School pupil has been a fan of Blaine's for

years. He travelled to London to see him in 2003 when the

record-breaking artist spent 44 days suspended 30ft in the air

in a transparent box, surviving on water alone.

Kate added: “He also really likes watching him on TV.”

Timothy is yet to hear back from the Make a Wish

Foundation.

His other wishes were to have a bedroom makeover, to go on

holiday to Cyprus, or to rap with singer Kanye West.

Timothy was given the Cheltenham Medal of Honour last year

for battling against his disease, called Bingham's Syndrome, as

he is the only known sufferer in the world.
