Deadline on council election
ANYONE wanting to force an election in Tewkesbury has until Friday to try to do so.
That is the deadline for electors to write to the borough council, calling for an election to be held to fill a vacancy on the town council.
It has arisen in the Prior's Park ward following Vicky Henley's resignation.
The 24-year-old stepped down due to what she claimed was councillors' unwillingness to accept new ideas and their squabbling.

The vacancy will be filled by co-option unless at least 10 people ask for an election by writing to the borough's returning officer, Sara Freckleton.
If there is a poll, it will be held no later than May 30 and will be the second town council election to take place in three months.

“I don't really don't see the point of this council. Most of the people on it are only there for their own interests and not for the good of the town.”

“Looks like the Town Council has fallen prey to sectarian squabbling. Pity, Town and Parish Councils can make a real difference to their neighbourhoods provided their members don't go off on silly political or ego trips. Let's hope they don't co-opt "one of the gang".”
