Delroy Ellis appointed mock mayor of Barton
THE robes, chains and hat have been handed over to the new mock mayor of Barton, Delroy Ellis.
The traditional mayor-making ceremony took place at One Eyed Jacks, in Barton Street, on Wednesday.

Dozens gathered for the event, which dates back to the end of the English Civil War in the 17th century.
It is now given to someone judged to have given exemplary service to Barton.

“I don't remember this being advertised. Indeed, the last that The Citizen had to say on the subject was that the mayor-making ceremony is carried out at Barton Fayre, which isn't happening for another month.”
