Divisive and un-British
IN your report, Mark Harper (Citizen, July 31), strongly denied that the billboards aimed at illegal immigrants were racist.
While accepting that Mr Harper's intentions were not racist, he can hardly deny that the billboards, coupled with the immigration checks at London railway stations, are having a negative effect on race relations in Britain.
These actions by the government seem almost deliberately calculated to encourage white British people to look with suspicion at their fellow Britons from different racial backgrounds.
I appeal to Mr Harper and his colleagues to drop these divisive, un-British measures before they cause even more damage to racial equality in Britain.
