From 1st October forms will be coming through the letter boxes of city residents, asking households to update their details for the electoral register, which will be published in February 2014.
Residents that are not on the register will be unable to vote in the European Parliamentary and Gloucester City Council Elections in May 2014.
Julian Wain, Electoral Registration Officer said: "Registering to vote couldn't be easier and residents will be familiar with the benefits of being registered.
"We understand the time pressures that all households are under and I would strongly recommend that residents use the quick and easy telephone, internet or text services as soon as they receive the form to ensure they are registered. These methods of registering also save money."
If there are no changes required to the form, households can confirm their details by using the telephone, internet or text message services. These services can also be used to request a postal vote application and opt out of the edited version of the register.
If you do not want to appear on the edited register, which is available for general sale, you will have to tick the opt-out box.
