WE can't remember a time when one man was barred from quite so many shops. Especially not at the age of 51 when, frankly, he should know better.
Raymond Grant is a shoplifter. He is noisy, abusive, and intimidates shop staff.
It's not exactly a CV to be proud of, is it? No wonder 72 businesses don't want him anywhere near them.
Sadly, Raymond is well-known to the Echo. He's featured on the pages of this newspaper for at least the past 10 years, accused of various offences ranging from harassment to nicking books and wine from supermarkets.

You've got to hand it to him – he's got staying power. In fact, in 2011 alone, he found himself in and out of prison six times.
But this ASBO begs the question, what drives someone to behave like this? Because the list of premises in which he's no longer welcome is eye-watering.
Everywhere from the Beechwood Shopping Centre to Marks & Spencer and the Co-op on Bath Road.
We can just about understand why a man like Raymond might find himself in those establishments.
But Claire's Accessories, Karen Millen, Reiss? The mind boggles.
The real loser in this sorry tale, though, is Raymond himself.
Two years ago, after he was jailed for yet another wine theft, he pleaded with magistrates to help him turn his life around.
"He's an educated, intelligent and articulate man," his solicitor told the court.
In turn, the presiding magistrate told him: "Socially we've got to work this out, as well as legally."
But words are cheap, as they say.
Have we helped him? It's doubtful. No, the thorny problem of men like Raymond isn't an easy fix.
But with all the groups and the charities and the medical expertise in this county, we ought to be able to do something that doesn't perpetuate this cycle of offending-prison-offending-prison that has blighted his last decade – and Cheltenham's.
FIRST it was Worcester Woman, then White Van Man – and now it's Aldi Mum. Politicians aren't half fond of dreaming up election-swinging soundbites.
Still, it's got a certain ring to it – a bit like the tills at a certain discount supermarket which is blowing most of its rivals out of the water.
