Donations for family who lost almost everything in fire
HELP is at hand for a Matson couple who lost almost everything in a house fire just weeks before their baby is due.
Adam Ball, 27, and his partner Carlie Young, 28, rushed home on September 23 to find their Juniper Avenue home up in flames.
Luckily their son Kai was at school at the time, and their puppy Buster, cat Jess and their hamster all survived the blaze.
However extensive smoke damage meant the young family have had to destroy a number of household items including their son's mattress and a cot, mattress, clothes and toys which had all been bought ahead of the birth of their baby, due in six weeks' time. "The fire was in the kitchen but the smoke went right up the staircase and into the bedrooms and it ruined everything," said Mr Ball, who is preparing to rent a house in Abbeymead. We thought we had contents insurance, but it turns out we don't. It looks like we're going to have to take out a loan to get through all of this."
