FOR the second season in succession Cheltenham Town will host MK Dons in the first round of the newly named Capital One (League) Cup.

This tie will be both clubs' opening fixture of the 2012/13 campaign, with the match likely to played on Tuesday, August 14 (7.45pm) – four days before the Football League season kicks off.

The League One Dons were comfortable 4-1 winners at the Abbey Business Stadium last year, inspired by Sam Baldock shortly before the striker joined West Ham United.

Luke Summerfield put Cheltenham ahead with a deflected shot in the first half, but Baldock levelled before the break and Karl Robinson's team pulled clear in the second half.

Cheltenham are yet to defeat MK Dons, who lost to Huddersfield Town in last season's play-off semi-finals, in three previous attempts and it is another stern early test for Mark Yates' men.

The full list of League Two fixtures for their 14th season in the Football League will be released on Monday.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham have confirmed a home friendly against Championship club Burnley on Saturday, August 4.

Former Robins defender Michael Duff, arguably the finest player to progress through the club's youth system, is among those who will be on show for the Clarets.

Further away warm-up matches against non-League opposition are expected to be announced shortly.

Pre-season programme so far: Saturday, July 21: Evesham United (A); Saturday, July 28: Birmingham City (H), Tuesday, July 31: Cardiff City (H), Saturday, August 4: Burnley (H); Saturday, August 11: Gloucester City.
