Dozens of motorists were fined in a Gloucestershire police sting today
Over 40 motorists were fined following a police operation in Hucclecote today.
The operation was based at the Double Gloucester pub on Cheltenham Road and involved speeding checks along Estcourt Road.
-

It followed concerns about motoring offences raised by local residents at the Longlevens and Elmbridge partnership meetings and also to officers on patrol in the area.
In reaction, Hucclecote Safer Community Team Police Constables and Police Community Support Officers joined up with six members of the roads policing unit (RPU) to hold the crackdown.
In total, 24 motorists were issued £60 fines for failing to wear a seatbelt, seven people were given a £60 fine and three points on their licence for speeding and three people were given a £60 fine and three points on their licence for using a mobile phone while driving.
Seven people were also fined for having excess levels of tint in their front windows.
Two people were ordered to rectify faults on their vehicle.
Police Community Suport Officer Matt Addinall, of Hucclecote Safer Community Team, said: "The community asked for this operation, which is why we have run it, and we will do it again if it remains an issue for local people.
"Motorists who ignore the law endanger their own lives and the lives of others, and this operation sends out a strong message that we take such offences very seriously."

“Gives a steer on what the Poice can cut back on, too much tint on the window, have they really got a test meter, no of course they havent, lets hope the "Motorists" chllenge this in court because the police are on really dodgy ground here.
Scrapping neighbourhood forums would be good start for cost cutting, let the police concentrate on druggies and thieves that are the real problem not pander to the Kill Joys..”

“Glad to see people being told to pull off the black 'privacy' glass film on their front car windows - these people must think they are celebrities putting that rubbish on their cars. I'm glad they wasted their money.”

“Errr...Groucho, that will be a team within the police so one would be led to assume that these "self righteous busybodies" are police officers.
Im all for it, nick everyone with mis-spaced, wrong type registration plates, anyone with tints, and anyone driving a car with "powered by fairydust" on it.
Come the revolution...”
