Essential drainage works will be starting later this month (Monday 25th March) in Brimscombe.

The works are set to take place at Brimscombe Lane and lay-by, Old London Road. The scheme is designed to minimise property damage at Brimscombe lay-by. Following the adverse weather in November 2012, and responding to concerns raised by local residents and the Parish Council, Gloucesteshire Highways is making improvements to the drainage system in the lay-by. This scheme will respond to issues in the lay-by and will alleviate the flood risk for local people.

Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, cabinet member for communities, said: "This is important drainage work to significantly reduce the flood risk for local people. There will be some disruption and we ask people to please be patient while we carry out these works. However the benefits should far outweigh this period of inconvenience."

Cllr Stan Waddington, county councillor for Nailsworth and Minchinhampton, said: "These works should bring real peace of mind for local people. It is good news that Gloucestershire Highways is responding to calls from local people and the Parish Council. Although the road will be closed for sometime, I'm sure residents will really appreciate the results."
