Driver to appear in court in connection with Elkstone crash

A DRIVER is to appear in court in connection accused of crashing into a lorry near Elkstone and fleeing the scene.

Police and were called shortly before 11.20pm on Thursday to reports of a car being driven the wrong way down the A417.

It hit the lorry causing some damage. 

No one was injured.

Officer and the Western Counties Air Operations helicopter were mobilised.

Following a search of the area a suspect was tracked to a nearby location. 

Dmytro Nadtochii, 27, from Swindon, was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without insurance, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene of a collision.

He has been bailed to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates on April 11.
