Drug Dealer Suing British Government.....You couldn't make it up!
Lindsay Sandiford, the woman convicted of smuggling drugs in Bali, is to sue the British Government for not funding her appeals against the death sentence.
"Reprieve, and solicitors Leigh Day & Co, have filed a judicial review in the UK on Ms Sandiford's behalf against the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This argues that: "In failing to make arrangements for an adequate lawyerto represent the claimant's interests the defendant is acting unlawfully, in breach of its obligations as a matter of EU law, to take all reasonable steps to ensure that she does not face the death penalty, is not subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment, is not tortured and receives a fair trial."
So, she smuggles drugs, gets convicted and then says it's not fair that the British tax paying public are not paying for her appeal under EU law?

“This appeal should be dismissed out of hand and the firm should be made to pay all its costs and all the court's costs too.”

“Again we are being asked to pay for someone who is no longer a resident in the UK.
So the EU is saying pay if they are resident or a citizen no win, why doesn't she sue the German government as she is a EU citizen.
What a crock of (add expletive)
She knew by carrying the drugs she WOULD get the death penalty so why ***** about it?
"Yesterday an expert on the Bali crime scene said Sandiford was a 'familiar face' in the local drug world and mad repeated trips from India smuggling hashish."
'I know a number of big western drugs dealers who fled the island when they found out she had been busted and was turning rat.'

“Here's a report from Sandford's local (now) newspaper.

Just 2 things more from me:
1: Bali is not in the EU so it's laws should be supported by our government.
2: Sandiford made her bed and now she should lie in it.”

“Shame it was not Saudi Arabia then... Crimes subject to the death sentence included murder, apostasy from Islam, adultery, drug smuggling, and sabotage. Under certain conditions, rape and armed robbery could also lead to execution. Executions could be carried out by beheading, firing squad, or stoning of the convicted person in a drugged state.”

“In the long run she was the run smuggling drugs no one forced her to do it , she done the crime and although in other countries the law is harsh she should take responsibilties for her own actions ....whilst i feel sorry for any family members she done this on her own actions now she has to face up to the penalties.........”

“Perhaps the British Government will politely ask the Bali court/govt to 'hurry up' with the 'conclusion' to save hassle/costs.
But no doubt the tax-payer will ultimately fund her being bought back serve her sentence in the UK with legal-aid like we do with terrorists trying to avoid being thrown out of this country in a reverse stance of that situation.”

“The get-out clause is that the prosecution was not seeking the death penalty - case dismissed!
I also bet this case is a no win no fee case and the legal costs will be huge, being paid to the law firm by US! Lots of complaints need to be made to the Solicitors Regulation Authority about the law firm involved as happened to ACS Law.
