E-fit released of Cheltenham necklace swap con man

A con man stole a woman's necklace by replacing it with another one.

An 86-year-old woman was walking along College Road in Cheltenham at around 1.15pm on Tuesday June 26 when she was approached by a man asking for directions.

He placed a yellow coloured necklace around her neck before walking off towards Bath Road.

A short while later the woman noticed that her own necklace, which she had been wearing at the time of the incident, had been taken.

The man was described as being Asian, in his early 40s, and around 5ft 10” tall. He was of muscular build and was wearing a dark coloured ‘bomber’ jacked, a red checked shirt and dark coloured trousers.

Anyone who recognises the man from the efit or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 294 of June 26.
