Eddie hopes play will hit the West End
OLYMPIC ski jump hero Eddie "the eagle" Edwards says he hopes a stage play looking at his life could be a major hit.
The 49-year-old, who is now also known due to his victory on ITV diving programme Splash, is the subject of Fly Eddie Fly – a play which opens at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre next week.
Eddie, who was born and grew up in the town, said: "Who knows? It could go on to be a West End hit."
And he added, tongue in cheek, that he hadn't ruled out playing a part in the show.
