Elizabeth Hurley cast as the Queen in new US TV series
COTSWOLDS model and actress Elizabeth Hurley has landed the part of the queen in a new US television drama, The Royals.
But she is not going to compete with Helen Mirren, or risk upsetting royalists, as it is a fictional queen in a contemporary setting.
Hurley is due to play Queen Helena, who is “sexy, devious and conflicted”, according to a report in Deadline Hollywood.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Queen Helena will face clashes with her son and heir to the throne – and struggle with her own relationship with the King.
